Cheron Angelic Thornton blessed Iris and Joseph Thornton on May 9, 1980 in Orlando, Florida. As a young child, science fascinated her and she always had questions for her parents.

The construction sites awed Cheron when she was a teenager. She wanted to know how the buildings came up from the ground.

That is when she decided that she wanted to be an architect. At the same time that she was about to enter High school, magnet schools became popular. Her mother told her about the Engineering Technology Program at Edgewater High School. Cheron attended Edgewater High School from 1994-1998. She graduated in the top 10% of her class. She then attended Bethune-Cookman College majoring in Pre-Engineering and Math.

Cheron then transferred to USF in the fall of 2001. She is currently majoring in Civil Engineering. She is also an active member in the Florida Georgia Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation here at USF. FGLSAMP is an organization designed to increase minority participation in Science Engineering and Math.
